Description of Specimen
The specimen consists of a whole spleen. The capsule appears normal however the spleen is
profoundly hypoplastic and weighed 15gm in the fixed state. Splenic hyperplasia was discovered
during the post mortem examination of a middle aged woman who died of pneumococcal
septicemia.
