Description

The specimen consists of a hemisected kidney. There is extensive dystrophic calcification. This is
situated mainly in the immediate subcapsular area. The normal corticomedullary architecture of the
kidney is lost and the kidney structures are replaced by diffuse, pale brown necrotic debris. The
interlobar vessels are still visible. The features are those of chronic transplant rejection with marked
dystrophic calcification.
